PHSMA Facts: Pipeline Inspections


The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Department (PHMSA) takes public safety and the trust the public has in this administration very seriously. With over 2.6 million miles of pipeline across the USA, operator compliance with the minimal safety standards of the PHMSA is mandatory for the prevention of pipeline accidents and fatalities. When PHMSA inspectors inspect a pipeline for these standards there is a three part process for both federal and state inspectors that include plant and construction inspections, on site inspections, and records inspections.
