Reduced speed signs and double fines in highway construction zones are there to hopefully reduce accidents by deterring reckless and careless drivers. That is ideally the goal, but sometimes even hefty fines and legal charges don’t work and accidents still happen where they could potentially be avoided. Much of it is common sense – drive slowly through construction zones, obey all signage and be patient, but still – thoughtless drivers in a hurry continue to cause accidents in construction zones.
