Construction Zone Safety Reminders


Every month, twenty-three road side construction workers are killed in accidents across the country involving equipment colliding with other construction vehicles and/or oncoming traffic. On June 7th, 2015, in Englewood, Ohio, Daniel Walker was killed on the job while working road side construction along I-70. The fatal accident happened when a dump truck hit the right side of a semi, causing the truck to collide into a barrier wall where Daniel Walker was working – he leaves behind a wife and two children. The highway was shut down for nine hours due to the clean up.

OSP Troopers are using this tragic event as an opportunity to remind drivers to adhere to posted speed limits not only in highways that are not under construction, but particularly in construction zones. The fines are expensive and the possible fatalities are very real for the construction workers. Now that construction season has arrived, drivers are reminded to give themselves plenty of time so that they can be safe while getting to their destination on time. Read full article here…
